Oh hell no
Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003

Well, more problems at work with the Gay Old Fart.

Apparently he has told the people who work at the branches that they are not allowed to talk to me about anything concerning children's ordering. They are forbidden to send me lists of books they want. Instead, they are supposed to give them to him, and he will consider the requests then fill out order cards for what he wants and give them to me to turn in.

Hell no. What is even the point of me taking over ordering for the branches if I can't get input from the people who are working with the kids EVERY DAY. I know he has told this to one branch, so I am sure he has said this to all the branches.

So...I have to talk to B. tomorrow morning and get the whole story from her (since she's the one that talked to the branch lady), then go to my bossa and figure out what the hell I need to do.

I am about sick of this. No more nice Melissa!!! I am tempted to send a memo to all the branches, the director, and the Gay Old Fart saying that they have to contact me for requests. It's a good thing he wasn't working tonight...because I would have marched into his office and ripped him a new asshole.

As you can tell, I'm a little worked up about this. :-p

In other news...one of my staff members is retiring next year, which I am VERY happy about. She is old and does not have a fabulous repartee with the kids. I am hoping that in this town there is a 20something who is dying to work in the library. No more old people...I need new blood. So...we shall see when it gets closer to that time.

And another crazy work thing...our evil director saw at the county lumcheon that one department wore matching outfits and santa hats. He went out and bought santa hats for all the staff and told us we have to wear them all the time at work until Xmas.

Yeah...so I put it on in front of him and took it off once he left my office. Now it's sitting on a shelf because I refuse to wear that ridiculous thing.

He never comes to the children's department anyway, so I'm not really worried. Not like they're going to fire me for not wearing a Santa hat.

Ebay is the greatest. I got 2 skirts in this week and have gotten compliments on both of them at work. I am bidding right now on a skirt that has the cheshire cat on it...how perfect for a children's librarian, right? :-)

***************************

Well...that is about all from Melissa's world tonight. Till next time...
