I don't suggest spending 10 hours out of 13-hour trip in a car.
Though, it could have been worse. I was with my Dad, who pretty much keeps quiet, and silences don't bother him. We can actually listen to the radio. Not so with the mother. I have to put up with her on Thursday.
So Dad and I had a good trip down...I slept a good part of the way. It's such a pretty drive the closer you get to Asheville...all mountainy and green. Beautiful.
We ended up getting to Hendersonville 2 hours before my interview. So my dad suggests driving around the town to check it out. I'm pretty sure we saw just about every square inch...he drove me around that town for an hour and a half. :-)
It's a cute small town, nice main street area. For some reason, there are crazy bear statues everywhere. One is dressed as a tourist, one is a polychromatic pteradactyl, one has the skyline on it's feet and constalations painted on it's back. If I live there, I will take a picture of every bear I find, and another with me acting like the bear. :-)
The interview went well, I think. I feel I answered the questions pretty well, may have flubbed one about programming, but I think I nailed most of the other ones. They enjoyed the book I read to them. They thanked me for driving such a long way. The whole interview lasted maybe 30 minutes. Yeah, a long drive for not a little, but the way I figure it, any effort I can put forth to make myself look better is worth it. They offered me a phone interview, but I'm not good on the phone, and thought an in-person interview would be better.
Can I just say how much I love Cracker Barrel? We ate there for dinner, and while I was browsing the shop, I came across a sweatshirt I had to buy...Snoopy wearing a witch hat flying on a broomstick with Woodstock. Cute!
